BIS is an IT system designed to allow supervision of cashiers' transactions in the point of sale. Entities grouped in the system (e.g. a group of tenants leasing shopping and service areas in a shopping centre) are supervised and the supervisor is the owner of the system (e.g. an entity that lets out the shopping area in the shopping centre).

The following functions are available as a consequence of the assumptions made:
Data acquisition - BlackBox allows real time acquisition of transaction data from cash registers; this data is then extracted and analyzed.
Transaction control - the acquisition of transaction data enables the processing, analyzing and thereby control of financial transactions executed by the entities associated within the system
Analysis and reports - analysis and reports are based on current data and applicable statistics can be generated on-line. High efficiency of queries is achieved through special mechanisms and algorithms of data aggregation and processing optimisation.
Non-invasive operation - the system operates on a 24/7 basis in the background and has no influence on operations of cash registers and fiscal printers.
Continuous operation - the system operates on a 24/7 basis and requires no additional personnel for regular maintenance.
Scalability - assures correct system operation, independent of the number of devices (transactions) serviced, by a simple upgrade of the hardware-software infrastructure.
Simple system upgrade - the connection of new entities, devices, cash registers is performed without switching the system off.
